Vol. 220 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Roscommon Land Division.

72.

asked the Minister for Lands how many acres of land have been in the possession of the Land Commission in County Roscommon for the following periods without division: (a) seven years, (b) five years and (c) three years; why lots under headings (a) and (b) have not been divided; and when is it proposed to divide them.

Apart from substantial areas of turbary and inferior quality land, the area of arable land on hands of the Land Commission for the periods (a) seven years, (b) five years and (c) three years is 93 acres, 86 acres and 684 acres respectively. The lands referred to at (a) and (b) comprise small scattered units and every effort is being made to have them allotted as rapidly as possible; in fact schemes have already been prepared for about half of the area in question. Land division in each of the past three years in County Roscommon has averaged upwards of 1,400 acres.

Questions Nos. 73 to 78, inclusive, postponed.
