asked the Minister for Health if he has yet reached a decision on the memorandum received from the Irish Nurses' Organisation regarding a pensions scheme; and what action he proposes to take on the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pension Scheme for Nurses.
I presume that the Deputy is referring to the memorandum which the Irish Nurses' Organisation submitted to the committee which examined the question of a superannuation scheme for staffs of voluntary hospitals. The representations made by the Irish Nurses' Organisation, including those set out in the memorandum referred to, were considered by the committee.
As I indicated in my reply to a question on 3rd March, I am examining the committee's report, and I hope that it will be possible to introduce a suitable scheme.
Could the Minister give any indication as to when consideration will be completed and a decision given?
I could not say that. The Minister for Health only received this on 10th February.
I wonder if the Minister is in a position to give an approximate date?
Obviously I am not, but as I say, it was received——
I agree that the Minister for Justice is not in a position to answer that if it is not in the brief.
Not, it is not.
