Vol. 222 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Call Delays.

85.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will explain the delay in telephone calls from Dublin routed through Sligo exchange with particular reference to indefinite delays on the 29th March, 1966.

Delays that occur during peak traffic periods on calls routed through Sligo to parts of County Donegal are due to inadequacy of circuits. A new co-axial cable which will provide ample circuiting is at present being laid. Some advance circuits on this cable will be brought into service shortly and this will improve the position pending completion of the scheme early next year.

The abnormal delays on 29th March were caused by technical trouble which lasted some hours on the Dublin-Sligo route.
