This matter has been given preliminary consideration and my Department and Radio Telefís Éireann have been following with close attention present efforts to reach international agreement on a general European standard for stereophonic broadcasting. Meanwhile the Irish VHF service has been so planned that the transmitters will be suitable for stereophonic transmissions.
