asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he can give the reasons for the agricultural sector's failure to reach the targets of the Second Programme; whether in the light of that failure any fundamental changes in agricultural policy are being contemplated; and if he will make a general statement on the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Second Programme Agricultural Targets.
89.
The Second Programme for Economic Expansion, which covers the years 1964 to 1970, set out targets to be achieved by the agricultural sector in 1970. There is, therefore, no question of agriculture having failed to reach such targets. The progress made by the agricultural sector towards achievement of the 1970 targets is now being evaluated as part of the mid-term review of the Second Programme mentioned by the Taoiseach.
