Vol. 241 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Personnel Salary Adjustments.

190.

asked the Minister for Finance if Army personnel employed in Government service who have been called out on permanent service will have any difference in their salaries adjusted.

Civil servants and State industrial employees who have been called-up on mobilisation of the first line reserve and whose civil pay exceeds their Army emoluments will receive the balance necessary to bring their total emoluments, Army and civil, to the level of their civil pay.

191.

asked the Minister for Finance if Army personnel employed in State and semi-State companies under the aegis of his Department who have been called out on permanent service will have any difference in their salaries adjusted.

The Cómhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta group is the only State-sponsored organisation under the aegis of my Department from which personnel have been called out on permanent army service. I understand that any difference in salaries is being adjusted by the group so that no loss of earnings will be suffered by those concerned as a result of their Army duty.
