Vol. 242 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Flats.

51.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether minimum standards of ventilation are prescribed for toilets in local authority flats; and, if so, what they are.

The standard requirement for local authority dwellings is that toilets should be provided with adequate ventilation, either by means of a window opening directly to the open air or by other approved method, such as mechanical ventilation.

Does the Minister consider that ventilation from a toilet into a kitchen is satisfactory?

Is this not the case with every toilet in every flat unit in Ballymun?

No. I do not think so. There is mechanical ventilation.

There is a still-air vent.

My information is that there is mechanical ventilation.
