Vol. 244 No. 4

Written Answers. - Telephone Coin Box Defect.

207.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why his Department failed for several weeks after notification of a defect in telephone coin box 52215 to rectify the fault; why it was possible to obtain numbers from that instrument without insertion of coins; and if in the circumstances the Department will waive charges for calls during that period in excess of the normal calls from that instrument; and, if not, why.

The fault in question is apparently one reported on 22nd December, 1969, which was cleared on 29th December. This fault affected the mechanism of the coinbox and may have allowed local calls to be dialled without the insertion of coins. A suitable credit will be allowed to the subscriber to cover any calls obtained without payment.
