Vol. 249 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questious. Oral Answers. - Recognition of Northern Ireland Teaching Services.

21.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that in the case of a secondary teacher (name supplied) formerly head of the Irish department in a secondary school in Belfast, who, as a result of last year's events there has come to live and work here, the application of the Department's rules with regard to recognition of teaching services in Northern Ireland has led to the virtual halving of this teacher's salary; and whether he will take immediate steps to give full recognition to teaching services in Northern Ireland.

Under the existing arrangements recognition of such teaching service is limited to a maximum of five years. I am, however, having the position in relation to this and similar cases reviewed.
