The information requested by the Deputy will not be available until all claims for interest, in respect of moneys deposited with British Customs by the Irish banks on behalf of Irish exporters, are received. Owing to the bank closure claims for interest have not been received from the banks, with one or two exceptions, since February 1970. Total payments by the Exchequer to the end of February 1970 amounted to about £1½ million.
Can the Minister state when full information will be available?
I am sorry I cannot give a date but I imagine all information should be available in about three months.
