Vol. 251 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sandymount, Dublin, Pollution.

74.

asked the Minister for Local Government what steps it is proposed to take to deal with the polluted condition of Sandymount Strand, Dublin with a view to reclaiming for public use by next summer.

This is primarily a matter for Dublin Corporation who are spending considerable sums on keeping the beach in a clean and tidy condition. The Deputy will, no doubt, be aware that Dublin Corporation are co-operating with the Electricity Supply Board and the Dublin Port and Docks Board in mounting a survey to establish the level of pollution in Dublin Bay. This should establish if measures additional to those currently being taken by the corporation are necessary to bring Sandymount Strand to an acceptable standard.
