Vol. 256 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin Corporation Planning Staff.

317.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of planning officers in Dublin Corporation; the essential qualifications for such posts; and the number of officers with the necessary qualifications.

The total number of planning officers at present employed in Dublin Corporation is 18, including one temporary post. These span six grades. Apart from standard requirements as to character, age, health, experience et cetera, the professional qualification required for the three senior grades, that is planning officer, deputy planning officer and senior planning assistant is the final examination of the Town Planning Institute or an examination entitling exemption therefrom. For the three other grades, that is planning assistant grade I, planning assistant grade II and development control assistant grade I a recognised qualification in town planning is required with the alternative in the case of the latter two grades of a recognised university degree in engineering or architecture, with suitable experience.

All the planning officers in Dublin Corporation possess the necessary qualifications.
