Some funds from the research and investment chapter of the budget of the European Communities have been set aside for non-nuclear research. I would refer the Deputy in this connection to the first report to the Houses of the Oireachtas on developments in the European Communities.
Could the Minister say in which way this country may benefit from these funds?
Enviornmental protection, use of solar energy, raw materials and so forth.
Do we get an occasion——
The Community propose that the budget as far as possible should be spread over the Community and we would be hopeful that some of our research institutions will benefit. Not only would we be doing research on our own behalf but on behalf of the Community as a whole.
