Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pensions Committee Report.

135.

asked the Minister for the Public Service when the report of the committee, which has been sitting for the past two years considering the provision of pensions for auxiliary postmen and temporary civil servants who have retired, will be available.

Mr. Kenny (for the Minister for the Public Service)

A claim seeking a comprehensive revision of the Civil Service superannuation code is being considered in accordance with the terms of the conciliation and arbitration scheme for the Civil Service. The claim was referred by the general council under the scheme to a working party for detailed examination. I presume this is the committee to which the Deputy refers. I understand that the working party reported on the claim to the general council on 31st October, 1973. The general council will now consider the report as required by the conciliation and arbitration scheme. The proceedings of the council are confidential and may not be published until a decision is made on any agreed recommendations and conveyed to the parties concerned.
