Vol. 272 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Atmospheric Pollution

3.

asked the Minister for Health if he will sponsor an advertising campaign to eliminate ignorance of the effects on climate and health of the gradual accumulation of pollutants such as dust and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere: and if he will give an estimate of the cost per annum to the State of pollution in the atmosphere.

The field of atmospheric pollution is not my responsibility. I would not consider that an advertising campaign to eliminate ignorance on such pollution would warrant priority in the field of health education.

Would this be a matter for Local Government?

Yes, pollution generally is the responsibility of the Minister for Local Government. I mean the treatment of it.

I am concerned with the health aspect of it.
