Vol. 277 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry School.

26.

asked the Minister for Finance when work will commence on the erection of the new school in Valentia, County Kerry.

Mr. Kenny

Plans have been prepared for the erection of this school but information is awaited regarding a wayleave for a drain and local authority approval of the drainage proposals. In anticipation of the satisfactory clearance of these matters arrangements will be made to put the preparation of bills of quantities in hand so that tenders can be invited as soon as possible.

It is yet too early to say when work will commence.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary make arrangements to get the school out to tender? The water problem has been solved. Drainage was not a problem.

Mr. Kenny

Up to the present the problem of the water supply was the factor holding up the erection of the school. It was that caused the delay. If this problem has been solved, I do not think there can be any other obstacle except the wayleave. The manager must get a wayleave over the adjoining property to connect the effluent pipe from the septic tank to the drain.

We will get that sorted out.
