Vol. 278 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grand Canal Bridges.

62.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has before him any proposals in relation to the Grand Canal in the Dublin city area for the construction of a new bridge, the widening of existing bridges or the provision of crossings at more than one level.

Proposals for road improvements along the route of the Grand Canal from Baggot Street Bridge to Suir Road Bridge were submitted by Dublin Corporation during 1974. On examination of these proposals, the corporation were asked in November, 1974, to prepare alternative proposals along lines discussed with their engineers. I have not yet received the alternative scheme.

I suppose it is likely that this work will start within a year?

I would not be able to say until they send in the alternative scheme to me. If it is sent in quickly, it will be dealt with quickly.
