Vol. 281 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pension Claimant.

31.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a non-contributory pension will be granted to a person (name supplied) in Dublin.

A pension order book at the reduced rate of £1.30 a week from 25th October, 1974, issued on 3rd December, 1974, to the post office at which the person concerned stated he wished to be paid. A separate notification was sent to claimant's home address also on 3rd December, 1974, informing him of the issue of the book. The Deputy's question is the first intimation received in this Department that claimant had not received his pension book. Inquiry from the post office in question indicates that claimant has not taken up his book in spite of the Department's notification. He has again been informed that his pension book together with supplementary books increasing his pension rate to £3.85 a week from 4th April, 1975, are with the post office of payment.

The person concerned has appealed against the decision of the pension sub-committee on the ground that he is entitled to a higher rate and the case has been referred by the appeals officer for further investigation.
