Vol. 316 No. 8

Written Answers. - Improvement Grants.

417.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

The file in this case is with my Department's inspector for a final report with a view to payment of the house improvement grants already approved. Payment, if in order, will be made without delay when that report is received. The inspector has been instructed to expedite the return of the documents to my Department.

418.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon, the date this application was received, the date of inspection, the date of approval and the amount of the grant.

This application was received in my Department on 26 May 1977 and, following several inspections—the first being made on 18 July 1977—grants of £200 and £25 for reconstruction works and the installation of sewerage facilities respectively were allocated on 15 February 1978. The file is at present with the inspector with a view to certifying for payment of the grants allocated if the work has been satisfactorily completed. Delay in this case was due to problems associated with the payment of a previous reconstruction grant for the house and to the question being raised by the applicant as to whether he would seek a disabled person's grant from the county council or else proceed with his applications for grants from my Department.
