Vol. 323 No. 3

Written Answers . - Bag-Snatching Incidents .

345.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will increase the number of gardaí in the area of Clonliffe Road, Dublin, as recently there appears to have been an increase in the number of bag-snatching and other similar incidents there.

: The Garda authorities have informed me that they are aware of the particular problem referred to by the Deputy. They say that the Clonliffe Road area is receiving regular attention from foot and mobile patrols and that the patrols currently being operated there are the maximum that can be provided at present, having regard to Garda strength and overall demands on Garda services in the Fitzgibbon Street sub-district. However, the patrolling arrangements are being kept under review, and the Deputy may take it that as much Garda attention as practicable will be given to the area.
