Vol. 330 No. 9

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

535.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in respect of the sewerage scheme and treatment works for Ballyshannon, County Donegal.

536.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position in relation to the Ballyshannon sewerage scheme, County Donegal; and when it will be sanctioned.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 535 and 536 together.

Contract documents for this scheme are at present under consideration in my Department. The local authority's proposals for the scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for the overall water and sewerage programme, and the number of schemes in progress or getting to construction throughout the county for which adequate finance must be provided, including the following schemes in County Donegal:-

— Creeslough/Dunfanaghy Water Supply Scheme.

— Donegal Water Supply Augmentation Scheme (River Esk).

— Dunfanagh/Portnablagh Sewerage Scheme.

— Fahan Sewerage Scheme.

— Letterkenny Sewerage Scheme

— Stage 1.

— Lough Mourne Regional Water Supply Scheme; Dunmore to Flushtown Bridge.

— Lough Mourne Regional Water Supply Scheme; Clady connection.

— Lettermacaward Water Supply.

— Rosses Regional Water Supply Scheme; Acres to Dungloe and Burtonport extensions.

— Bundoran (Derryherk) Water Supply Scheme.

— Letterykenny Sewerage Improvement scheme.

I am not at present in a position to say when approval will issue to the contract documents for the Ballyshannon sewerage scheme.

537.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in relation to the Killtallagh/Ballyfinnane group water supply scheme, County Kerry; and whether work is likely to start on this scheme early in 1982.

There is no formal application in my Department for a group scheme in Killtallagh. However, my Department's supervising inspector for the area received an inquiry about the possibility of organising a group scheme in the Killtallagh area and wrote to Kerry County Council inquiring if the council could provide a source of supply to serve the area. A reply from the council is awaited.
