Vol. 335 No. 2

Written Answers. - Bord na Móna.

762.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will furnish the appropriate amount of interest charges attributed to the loans or advances from which Croghan, Derrinlough and Littleton briquette factories were financed; and the approximate amount of loan charge attributable to each factory in each of the past three years including the year ended 31 March 1982.

763.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will furnish particulars of interest or loan charges paid by Bord na Móna in the years ended 31st March, 1981, and the estimated figures for 31 March, 1982 in clarification of the public accounts of Bord na Móna under the following heads:—(1) development generally (other than machinery); (2) peat moss factories; (3) briquette factories; (4) machinery generally; (5) other capital works; and (6) over-drafts in day-to-day working.

764.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will state in explanation of the published accounts of Bord na Móna (and for the year ended 31 March 1982): (a) the total overdraft interest attributable to day-to-day working (and not related to capital purposes) in each year; (b) the overdraft interest attributable in each year to the loss in income due to price control, being the difference between actual prices allowed and the price increase sought for products (related to actual sales) in each year; and (c) the overdraft interest attributable to other day-to-day operations.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 762, 763 and 764 together.

Particulars of interest or loan charges paid or capitalised by Bord na Móna are given in the annual accounts of the board. The annual accounts as published are in the form which complies with the statutory requirements and accord with modern accounting practices. I would not be justified in requiring Bord na Móna to furnish, for publication, accounts additional to those which are published in the form approved after consultation with the Minister for Finance.
