Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

249.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in County Meath as she is a widow and lives alone.

Service will be provided for the person named as soon as the necessary additional engineering work can be carried out.

The objective of the Department's current telephone development programme is to provide a fully satisfactory telephone service nationally in terms of both quality and availability by the end of 1984 and it is expected that service will be provided for the person named next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

I very much regret the delay in providing telephone service for the person named. However, it will not be possible to meet this application until necessary additional engineering work is carried out.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

I understand fully the frustration felt at the delay in providing telephones. However, it is expected that telephone service will be provided for the person named within about a month.

252.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Dublin is being charged for a period when her telephone was out of order.

Outward service was withdrawn recently on this telephone for non-payment of telephone accounts dating back to the end of last year. There is no record of the telephone having been out of order during 1983.

253.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when public telephone kiosks will be erected at Clonard Park, Bishopswater, County Wexford.

It is planned to erect a public telephone kiosk at Belvedere Grove to serve the general area including Clonard Park. It is also planned to erect a public telephone kiosk in Bishopswater. It is expected that both kiosks will be provided during 1984.

254.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a public telephone kiosk, already sanctioned, will be erected in Camross, County Wexford.

It had been planned to provide a kiosk at Camross. However, the programme for the provision of rural kiosks is under review at present in the light of the financial position generally and it is not possible at this stage to say when a kiosk may be provided at the location in question.
