asked the Minister for Agriculture where the registration office of the Irish Aberdeen Angus Breeding Society is situated; who the secretary is; the number of animals registered through this office in 1983 and over the last five years; the benefit it is to the society; the grants they receive from the Government each year; and what the grant allocation is used for.

The information sought is as follows:—

Location of Registration Office: Department of Agriculture, Setanta Centre, Nassau Street, Dublin 2.

Secretary of Society: Mr. A. Troy, Assistant Principal, Department of Agriculture.

Number of Animals Registered: 1983, 284; 1982, 248; 1981, 250; 1980, 209; 1979, 203; 1978, 214.

Benefit to Irish Angus Cattle Society: The main objectives of the Society are to encourage, promote and improve the breeding of Angus cattle in Ireland. My Department aids in the achievement of these objectives.

Grants from Government each year: 1982 only, £500.

How grant allocation is used: Provision of semen at reduced price.
