The qualifications in music required for appointment to a post as teacher of music in a secondary, vocational, community or comprehensive school is the degree in music of a recognised degree-awarding authority or an approved equivalent qualification.
Regional technical colleges are not empowered to award a qualification in music recognised as equivalent to a university degree for the purpose of the appointment of teachers.
