The scheme of Exchequer recoupment of the full cost of payments made by local authorities in respect of malicious damage to property caused by the use of explosives and attributable to the disturbances in Northern Ireland has applied only to payments made on or after 1 January 1974. The amount paid to each of the counties in question since 1974 is as follows: Cavan, £685,046.50; Donegal, £336,909.58; Leitrim, £113,423.53; Louth, £704,091.58; Monaghan, £1,778,868.13.
