Limerick East): Because of the various demands on the Prison capital allocation for 1983, it was not possible in the context of the departmental Estimates to earmark money for the fitting out of the depot. Exact calculations of projected annual expenditure on large construction projects are, however, of their nature subject to review and it became apparent in the course of the latter part of 1983 that expenditure on some projects this year would be less than anticipated earlier. Accordingly, it has proved possible to proceed with the fitting out of the depot and it is hoped to have substantial progress made in the matter by the end of the year.
