asked the Minister for Agriculture when a heifer and calf premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Laois as it is due for some time.

The person named will be paid his 1983 calved heifer scheme grant as soon as the batch which includes his payment is processed. He has been paid his calf premium already.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

It is a condition of the 1983 cattle headage scheme in disadvantaged areas that the off-farm income of the applicant combined with that of his/her spouse does not exceed £3,500 for income tax year ended 5 April 1983. As the combined off-farm income of the person named and his spouse exceeded that amount, he is not eligible for payment of grants.

The person named will be paid his cattle headage grant under the 1983 disadvantaged areas schemes as soon as the batch which includes his payment is processed.

As soon as the person named complies with requests to furnish income tax certificates and also documentary evidence of ownership of extra lands, his applications for cattle headage grants under the 1981 and 1982 disadvantaged areas schemes will be processed.

424.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the law relating to mountain commonage boundaries needs to be updated because unless everyone with rights to a commonage agree to erect a boundary fence along a public roadway the fence cannot be erected to prevent animals being a hazard to passing vehicles.

I am not aware of any need to amend the existing legislation regarding mountain commonage.
