Vol. 349 No. 1

Written Answers. - Coolock (Dublin) Manufacturing Firm.

411.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism when a firm (details supplied) will commence manufacturing in the Coolock area; the industrial estate in which they will be located; the amount of State aid that has been granted to them; the number of employees they propose to take on in their first year of operation; the maximum employment potential for this firm; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I announced on 7 March, the Emulex Corporation of California, USA, is to establish a new project to manufacture computer peripherals and other products at Coolock, Dublin. The project will be located in an IDA advance factory on the Clonshaugh Industrial Estate. It is expected that the new company will commence production before the end of this year. While the employment to be provided is a matter for the company itself, it is expected that 100 people will be employed by the end of 1985. Further employment is envisaged as the project develops. Details of the amount of IDA grant assistance approved for the project will be published in the IDA's annual report for 1984.
