Since fluoridation commenced in the mid-sixties it has been the policy, on grounds of cost effectiveness, to fluoridate only those water supplies serving populations in excess of 1,000 persons. Local authority water supply schemes which satisfy all the normal requirements for fluoridation but which have not been fluoridated to date are as follows:
