On 7 May 1982 the EC Commission submitted to the Council of Ministers proposals for a directive concerning temporary work. These proposals were considered at a Council of Social Affairs Ministers held on 10 December 1982, but the member states failed to reach agreement on the proposals. Subsequently, the EC Commission decided to amend its proposals in the light of the reservations expressed by the council on the original proposals and the opinions of the European Parliament and the economic and social committee. A revised text was submitted by the EC Commission to the council on 11 April 1984 but to date these proposals have not been discussed. I am not in a position to indicate if and when the latest proposals will be adopted by the council.
