The Commissioners of Public Works have indicated recently that the detail design work in connection with the extension proposed for the national school referred to by the Deputy has been completed. The question of inviting tenders for the project is under consideration and a decision in the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible. My Department have no proposals under consideration at present with regard to repairs to this school.

A grant was sanctioned in February last by my Department towards the cost of improvements at the school in question involving attention to windows, walls, flooring and paving.
The further arrangements for carrying out the work are a matter for the reverend chairman of the board of management acting in consultation with the Commissioners of Public Works.

My Department sanctioned a grant in February, 1984 towards the extension to the school referred to by the Deputy. The Commissioners of Public Works are currently engaged in the detail design work on the project. It is not possible at this stage to state when work may commence on the extension.
