Vol. 357 No. 7

Written Answers. - Sale of State Lands.

640.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will take urgent action to prevent the proposed sale of land at Muckross Road, Killarney, County Kerry, which was purchased by the State in connection with the provision of accommodation for the Department of Justice staff which were to be transferred to Killarney in the decentralisation programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is Government policy to dispose of all property surplus to State requirements. This includes sites acquired for the decentralisation programme. Portion of the site (.71 acres) at Killarney is being allocated to the Department of Defence for a site for an FCA hall. Consideration will be given to disposing of the balance of the site (2.065 acres) when the market in property improves.
