asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the Board of Works stated that they would provide new jetties at Clonmacnoise, County Offaly, before the start of 1985 boating season as the present jetties are in poor condition and cannot be used; if he will indicate when the Board of Works will carry out work on new jetties and arrange to have this work carried out as soon as possible.

A floating jetty is the most suitable means of providing the facilities required at Clonmacnoise. Tenders for the fabrication of the jetty components are at present being examined and it is hoped to place a contract shortly. The new jetty will be constructed and positioned as early as possible.
