Vol. 362 No. 13

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

190.

asked the Minister for Labour the amount of the redundancy entitlement of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford and when it will be paid.

My Department has received no claim in respect of a redundancy lump sum payment to the employee in question. It has been ascertained, however, from the employer that the employee was recently paid a redundancy lump sum of £453.92, the equivalent of four weeks' normal pay. According to the employer, the person concerned had six years' service — all under the age of 41.

The Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 to 1984, provide for a redundancy lump sum payment to be calculated at the rate of a half week's pay for each year of service between the years of 16 and 41 plus the equivalent of one week's normal pay. On the basis of the information received from the employer, the redundancy lump sum in this case appears to have been correctly calculated.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will arrange to have any outstanding moneys due to a company (details supplied) in County Tipperary paid in respect of redundancies where the employees have already been paid their redundancy moneys.

The company concerned was paid the full rebate due from the redundancy and employers' insolvency fund on 16 December 1985 in respect of a redundancy lump sum payment made to one former employee. No other claim has been received from this employer.
