Vol. 363 No. 1

Written Answers. - Fluoridation of County Roscommon Water Supplies.

204.

asked the Minister for Health the number of water schemes in County Roscommon for which funding to provide fluoridation was requested and refused in each of the years 1981 to 1985, inclusive.

Expenditure on the fluoridation of water supplies is normally met by health boards from their revenue allocations. In 1984 the Western Health Board indicated that it was unable to meet the cost of flouridating three water supplies in County Roscommon from within its existing revenue allocation and requested special funding from the Department. The Department was not in a position to provide funds for this purpose in 1984 or 1985. The health board's application will be reviewed again in 1986.
