asked the Minister for Labour if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be approved for the employment incentive scheme in view of the fact he is eligible under all criteria and if in the circumstances the conditions pertaining to sons and daughters being ineligible can be waived.

Immediate relatives of an employer are not eligible for recruitment under the employment incentive scheme. This condition is clearly stated in the published conditions of the scheme. In the case in question it is understood that the person recruited is a son of the employer and, if my Department's information is correct, is not therefore eligible for payment under the scheme. There are no proposals for waiving this condition of the scheme which is regarded as fair and reasonable.
