Vol. 363 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Galway Schools.

187.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in proceeding with the erection of an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Galway; if she will direct that this project commence immediately; if she is aware of the serious situation pertaining in this school; if she will outline the date that the various stages have been sanctioned; the name of the contractor; the total cost of the project; when work will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

On 7 February 1985 my Department sanctioned a grant towards the cost of an extension to the school referred to by the Deputy. The preparation of contract documents is well advanced and it is expected that they will be completed about the end of next month. The question of invitation of tenders will then be considered and the outcome conveyed to the school authorities at the earliest possible date. I am not in a position to say when building works may commence.

It is not the practice to divulge the financial details in relation to a project as this is a confidential matter between my Department and the school authorities.
