asked the Minister for Agriculture if he requested, at the recent EC farm prices talks, that the 90 days delay on intervention payments for grain be reduced to 60 days; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 75 and 77 together. The Deputy can rest assured that during the recent EC prices negotiations all issues having a bearing on prices, including delays in intervention payments, were discussed.

As regards milk products the position is that with effect from 12 May 1986, butter and skimmed milk powder taken over by intervention agencies will be paid for within a period of between 120 and 140 days after take over.

With regard to cereals no final decision has yet been made as to the extent of the delay in payment for cereals taken into intervention in the 1986-87 marketing year.
