Vol. 372 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dundrum (Dublin) By-Pass.

443.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the proposed by-pass of Dundrum village, County Dublin with particular reference to the part of the plan affecting the Birches Lane and Goatstown areas.

The planning and development of proposals for a by-pass of Dundrum is a matter in the first instance for the road authority concerned, Dublin County Council. On 3 October 1986 my Department approved the local authority's proposals for—

(a) a by-pass road linking Sandyford Road and Ballinteer Road;

(b) a north/south Dundrum Main Street by-pass;

(c) the Dundrum relief road; and

(d) improvements to Lower Churchtown Road.

It is now a matter for the local authority to proceed with the detailed planning of the scheme and to initiate any procedures for the acquisition of land needed to implement the scheme. The approved scheme does not include any works affecting the Birches Lane and Goatstown areas.
