asked the Minister for Education when sanction will be given for the provision of moneys for the purchase of the site on the north side of Drogheda for a new community college for Drogheda Vocational Education Committee; if her attention has been drawn to the substantial demand for further accommodation and to the fact that Drogheda Vocational Education Committee services large sections of the hinterland of Drogheda which includes County Meath; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The purchase of a site in principle, but not the purchase of a particular site, has been sanctioned by my Department.
Finalising the acquisition of a particular site for the new school is a matter in the first instance for the Town of Drogheda Vocational Education Committee. It has recently identified a site, the suitability of which for school building purposes will have to be confirmed by my Department.
This school will be planned to provide 400 places for students from Drogheda and the surrounding areas.
