Vol. 372 No. 1

Written Answers. - Durrus (Cork) School.

622.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that work on the building of an extension to Carrigboy national school at Durrus, County Cork, has been discontinued because of non-payment of moneys due to the builder; and if she will arrange immediate payment of the moneys outstanding so that this work can be completed.

The contract for the extension to Carrigboy national school, Durrus, County Cork is between the builder and the chairman of the board of management of the school who is responsible for all payments. The Department's function is to make grant payments to the chairman on foot of certificates submitted by his architect. A substantial grant payment on foot of progress certificates received was made recently by my Department. My Department expects to be in a position to pay the balance of the grant on foot of the certificates to hand to the school authorities on receipt of certain information which has been requested.
