A grant was sanctioned in January 1987 towards the cost of a new national school building at Athenry, County Galway, following earlier preparation of sketch plans for the project. One of the outstanding matters which precluded the earlier sanction of the grant was the necessity to have the title of the proposed site for the new building cleared by the Chief State Solicitor. There has been no avoidable delay in processing the planning of this project.
