Vol. 373 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cutbacks in the Health Boards.

66.

asked the Minister for Health the percentage cutbacks at administration level within each health board arising from recent budgetary constraints; and the numbers and locations of administrative staff, who have been disemployed at those levels.

The percentage cutbacks will vary from health board to health board depending on their financial performance over the past few years. A cutback of about 3 per cent in numbers, to be spread as evenly as possible across the grades, will arise from the embargo, non-filling of vacancies. A further reduction may be required by health agencies to enable them to remain within their 1987 allocations.

Information regarding the numbers and locations of administrative staff who have been disemployed is not readily available in the Department of Health. Perhaps the Deputy would refer this query directly to the health boards.
