asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline for each local authority the amount of money which they have been informed they will receive in 1988 from his Department under the various categories of central Government funding; if he will indicate in his reply the numerical difference between that sum of money in 1988 and the similar sum of money they received in 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Funding for Local Authorities.
To date, only allocations in respect of the rates support grant for 1988 have been notified to local authorities. These allocations — details of which are set out below — are not similar to the 1987 cash grant figures because of the effect in 1987 of the authorisation to use certain housing receipts for general current purposes in the case of certain local authorities. The 1988 allocations are, in the case of each local authority, less by 14% than the corresponding composite grant and housing receipts figures for 1987.
