Vol. 376 No. 9

Written Answers. - Deductions from AnCO Trainees' Allowances.

225.

asked the Minister for Labour the extent to which deductions can be made from trainees' allowances on AnCO courses for (a) meals (b) lateness (c) missing days and (d) others in AnCO training centres; his views on whether after such deductions trainees could receive less than on social welfare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Deductions may be made from allowances in respect of absences and late attendances if good cause is not shown. Subsidised meals are provided to the value of £3 per week and costs in excess of this must be met by the trainees.

Deductions may also be made on certain courses for the purchase of the appropriate small tools or protective clothing, which become the property of the trainees.
