Vol. 382 No. 5

Written Answers. - Newbridge (Kildare) New Labour Exchange.

84.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the accommodation which will be provided in the new labour exchange in Newbridge, County Kildare; whether it will be possible to accommodate any agencies other than his Department; the number of staff from his Department which will be accommodated in it; the facilities which will be there for the unemployed; and the total cost.

The new employment exchange at present under construction in Newbridge, County Kildare, is intended to replace the existing office which is inadequate. A total of 20 staff will be accommodated in the new office and the cost is estimated at about £500,000.

The new office will provide a full range of employment exchange services and will be designed in such a way as to provide greater privacy and comfort for members of the public making personal inquiries.

It will not be possible to accommodate outside agencies in the building at present being constructed because of space availability on the site. However, there is space on an adjoining portion of the site for further development and it is planned at a future date to develop this and bring all the Department's services in the town together. This aspect will be considered when the necessary finances are available.
