Boards of management of national schools established under the Rules of National Schools are separate and distinct from "governing bodies" of educational endowments established under the Educational Endowments (Ireland) Act, 1885. The Minister for Education deals with the boards of management of national schools, as managers, under the terms of the Rules for National Schools and of the Boards of Management of National Schools (Constitution and Rules of Procedure) and not under the Act referred to.

asked the Minister for Education if she or any educational body is exercising any powers under the terms of schemes for the government and management of educational endowments within the meaning of the Educational Endowments (Ireland) Act, 1885; and if the schemes are available for inspection by the public.
My Department continues to exercise functions in relation to educational endowment schemes which were established under the Educational Endowments (Ireland) Act, 1885. Copies of the schemes can be made available to the public on request.
