Clearance for the replacement of the surgeon concerned has already been issued by my Department and I expect that the post will be formally approved by Comhairle na nOspidéal at their meeting on 22 of this month. Meantime the hospitals involved are seeking to fill the post in the interim on a locum basis.
I am satisfied that all necessary measures are being taken to fill the post at the earliest possible date.
