Vol. 394 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork Maternity Services.

109.

asked the Minister for Health when it is proposed to merge the maternity services in Cork.

The Southern Health Board are responsible for the provision of maternity services in Cork. There is agreement in principle that maternity services in Cork should be located on a single campus. The board have commissioned studies on the feasibility of amalgamating maternity services on the Erinville — Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital site and on the St. Finbarr's Hospital site and are currently examining the implications of these studies. For this reason, it is not possible to state at this stage when this development is likely to take place.
